KOTOKO EDGE PAST KING FAISAL TO SECURE MTN FA CUP FINAL BERTH




Kumasi Asante Kotoko secured a third MTN FA Cup final berth after beating City rivals King Faisal 2-0 at the Kumasi Babayara Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Porcupine warriors who are chasing the double after being crowned League Champions were able to silent their sworn City rivals with two spectacular goals from strikers Abdul Aziz Yusif and Seidu Bancey. 

Abdul Aziz broke the dead lock in 23 minutes with a powerful header from a Prince Baffoe excellent cross from the right hand side of attack.

The Premier league Champions however rewarded themselves with a second goal in the 37th minutes when burly striker Seidu Bancey capitalized on a loss ball in the 18 yard box to thunder a powerful drive past the king Faisal goalkeeper after the defends of King Faisal failed to clear their lines.

King Faisal however came in very strong in the second half but the Porcupine warriors proved too strong. Asante Kotoko could have rewarded themselves with a third goal late in the game after Seidu Bancey’s header was denied by the upright from a wonderful cross by Eric Donkoh.

After 3 minutes of additional time, center referee Patrick Kyeremanteng blew his final whistle to end proceedings as the Kumapem lads advance to the finals of this year’s MTN FA Cup to face Inter Allies.
