Ghana and
Africa’s lone rep at this year’s Blue Stars/Fifa Youth Cup Asante Kotoko placed
5th in the ten team tournament after beating Greek side Olympiakos
2-0 in their final game of the competition.
Kotoko who
had lost their first two opening games to Benfica and Zurich respectively came
back to secure a massive 3-0 win over host Blue Stars and a goalless draw with
Spanish side Villarreal earlier on today before completing the competition with
a crucial 2-0 win over their counterparts from Greece to place 5th
on the rankings.
The Blue
Stars/Fifa Youth Cup is organized by FIFA every year in Switzerland to enable
scouts spot talents in the various clubs around the World.
The
tournament has therefore produced World Class players such as reigning World
footballer of the year Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Ricardo Kaka, Ryan
Giggs, Iker Casillas, J.J Okocha etc.
