BLACK PRINCESS MIDFIELDER FAUSTINA AMPAH CONFIDENT OF GHANA’S PROGRESS AT U-20 WWC

Black Princess defender Faustina Ampah remains optimistic ahead of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World cup, saying she believes Ghana can make history by progressing to the knockouts stages for the first time.

Ghana for a forth consecutive time will be participating at the World Cup and will be hoping to make an impression this time around after failing to get past the group stages in all three previous appearances.

Although the Princesses have been pitted in a tricky group A consisting of host Canada, Finland and North Korea, Faustina, 20 who represented the team two years ago in Japan believes Ghana can make an impact  at the 2014 edition of the tournament.

“Well! Last 2 years, u-20 world cup didn't go well for us, and this is a new team with some new players so this time around am hoping we progress to the next stage of the competition”, the hard working midfielder told SPORTS LOUNGE exclusively.

She was quick to admit the sort of pressure that will be on the team playing their first game against the host Canada.

“There is going to be a lot of pressure playing an opening game against the host nation, with their home support and stuff but we still have to build our confident and shouldn't feel pressured”.

“We are going there to play football in the name of Ghana. We are focusing on winning all our games and waving the flags of Ghana high”.

Ghana begins her campaign with host Canada on the 5th of August at the BMO field in Toronto before taking on North Korea on the 8th   at the same venue. And then travel to Montcon to face Finland on the 12th.
