BLACK PRINCESSES SET LEAVE GHANA TO BEGIN TRAINING TOUR AHEAD OF FIFA U-20 WWC

The Black Princesses of Ghana will enplane to Canada on Friday to begin their training tour ahead of the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup which kicks starts from August 5-23rd.

The team who will be making its fourth consecutive appearance at the World Cup have been camping at the Ghanaman School of Excellence in Prampram for the past one month.

Ghana booked her ticket to this year’s competition after eliminating Equatorial Guinea on penalties following a 1-1 aggregate score line in both leagues.

The Princesses will be aiming to make an impression this time around at the World Cup after failing to earn a point in the last edition which was held in Japan.

Head Coach Bashiru Hayford will however be counting on the experience of skipper Beatrice Sesu, Linda Addae, Faustina Ampah, Edem Atovor, Alice Eva Danso, Priscilla Saahene and Gladys Ampeh who  represented Ghana 2 years ago in the same competition.

The 30-“man” contingent made up of 23 players and 7 officials will leave Ghana at exactly 10pm tomorrow.

Ghana finds itself in a tricky group made up of host Canada, Finland and 2008 finalist North Korea who also won the competition in 2006.

Ghana begins her campaign with host Canada on the 5th of August at the BMO field in Toronto before taking on North Korea on the 8th at the same venue. And then travel to Montcon to face Finland on the 12th.
