BLACK SATELLITES FINAL QUALIFIER SHIFTED FROM TAMALE TO ACCRA

The Black Satellites of Ghana will have their final qualifier against Gabon played at the Accra Sports Stadium instead of the initial Tamale Sports Stadium.

Ghana eliminated Sierra-Leon to book a place in the final round of qualifiers. Coach Sellas Tetteh’s side were initially said to take on the Gabonese at the Tamale Sports Stadium, but the Ministry took a decision to shift the game to the Accra Sports Stadium due to financial reasons.

“We were supposed to play at the Tamale Sports Stadium. Initially that was where we played our games, but this time around the Ministry has made us understand that the game should come on at the Accra Sports Stadium. So we will play the game at the Accra Sports Stadium”, Chairman of the side George Afriyie told Asempa FM.

“We as management have always proposed we wanted to play our games at the Tamale Sports Stadium, but the Ministry insisted we play in Accra because they think we are not in the best of time, so we should play in Accra. That is the communication we received”, he added.

George Afriyie also added that preparation is on course and the team is well poised ahead of the crucial game which will be played on August 16.

“They just reported to camp a week ago. Because the league ended, most of the player’s fitness level has gone down and the coaches are working on that”.

“For now they have not played any friendly game or trial match, but I can see that the intensity of the training is really going on well”.

The 2015 African Youth Championships will be hosted by Senegal. Ghana were finalist at the last edition in Algeria losing 3-4 on penalties to current champions Egypt.
