Harrison Afful (born 24 June 1986 in Kumasi), commonly known simply as Affulinho, currently plays as a defender for Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 club Espérance Sportive de Tunis in Tunisia.
Affulinho is a product of
the Feyenoord Academy and had trials with Feyenoord
and K.V. Mechelen
in the summer of 2008, and in November 2008, he won the One Touch best player award. Affulinho
went out on loan to Asante Kotoko from 2007 to 2009. Affulinho
played in some friendly matches for Helsingborgs
IF but could not firm up a deal, and instead moved to
Tunisian
side Espérance. In the 2011 CAF Champions League Final
Affulinho came on as a substitute in the second
leg, scoring the game's only goal
to win the continental title against Wydad
Casablanca.
International career
His first full match was in
Ghana's 2–1 loss to Mexico on Wednesday March 26, 2008. He
played as left fullback in this match.
Affulinho was part of the Ghana squad for the 2008 African Cup of Nations which was
hosted on his home soil. His debut match was against the Ivory Coast in the 2008
26th MTN African Cup of Nations hosted by Ghana. His favorite number is number
26 and will be in the number 23 jersey for the Black Stars at the World Cup. He
will be making his debut World Cup appearance.
