PORTUGAL COACH VOWS TO GET OUT OF TOUGH GROUP

Portugal national team coach, Paulo Jorge Gomes Bento has admitted the though nature of Group G which has been depicted as the “Group of Death”, but has vowed his side will do everything possible to get out of the group which consists of Germany, Ghana and the USA.

The 44 year old former Benfica trainer who took over from former coach Queiroz in September 2010 says they will fight their way out of the group despite the stiff oppositions they are bound to face.

“It’s going to be a balance group with four strong teams so it’s going to be very difficult for us, but we will fight to the end to achieve our first goal, which is to reach the knockout phase. We will have a few mistakes that we need to correct before the world cup”, he told Fifa.com.

The Navigators managed a 1-0 win over North American world Cup campaigners Mexico in a pre-world cup friendly on Friday after being held to a goalless draw by European side Greece last week.

Portugal will however begin their World Cup campaign on June 16th with Group favorite Germany.
