Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has indicated his desire to play
in another World Cup after Ghana were eliminated from the 2014 FIFA World Cup
following the team’s failure to progress beyond the group stages of the
Mundial.
Gyan’s immense form saw him scoring twice for the Black
Stars at the Brazil tournament to increase his goal tally at the World Cup to
six after netting in the 2006 and 2010 World Cup’s respectively. Making him the
highest goal scoring African at the World Cup. A record which was held by
former Cameroonian international Roger Milla.
Although the 28-year-old goal poacher is in a pinnacle of
his career, he is still harboring a dream of play at a forth World Cup at age
32.
“Obviously I’d love to play in another World Cup. I’m 28
and I’m hoping to maintain my form over the next four years. If we qualify for
Russia, it goes without saying that I want to be there. I hope God can protect
me from injuries.” Gyan declared.
Asamoah Gyan currently holds the record as the highest
Black Stars scoring player with 43 goals.
