CAMEROON HOLDS GHANA’S GROUP OPPONENT GERMANY TO A 2-2 STALEMATE IN WARM UP GAME




African gaints Cameroon on Sunday evening held Ghana’s Group G opponent Germany to a 2-2 draw game at the Stadion im Borussia-Park in Monchengladbach [Germany] in a Pre- World Cup friendly.

A game which saw fascinating action in the final 30 minutes after some dreary moment in the early stages of the game.

Both coaches named a very strong squad ahead of the game. German head coach Joachim Low named a squad that included the likes Thomas Muller, Mesut Ozil, Jerome Boateng and Mario Gotze in his starting lineup. The Germans however missed the services of their number one goalkeeper Manuel Nueur as well as their captain Phillip Lahm due to injury.

Cameroonian German coach Volke Finke on the other hand fielded his best team which included skipper Samuel Eto’o, Alex Song, Nicholas N’koulou, Joel Matip and Stephane M’Bia.

It took 62 minutes for Cameroon captain Samuel Eto’o to break the dead lock with a perfect strike from inside of his boots. The Germans quickly responded 4 minutes later when Thomas Muller headed in the equalizer to draw the European giants on level pegging.

The 2010 Semi finalist at the World Cup however shot themselves in front in the 71st minutes when substitute Andre Schurrle scored from a perfect pass by Lukas Podolski.

Cameroon showed great resilience as they pushed forward for the equalizer and were rewarded after German born Choupo-Moting scored in the 78th minutes to help the African side earn a draw against their European counterparts.

Ghana however faces Germany in their second group game on the 21st June in Brasilia.
