Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has expressed excitement after
scoring his fifth World Cup goal to equal Cameroon’s Roger Milla record as
Africa’s top scorer at the Global showpiece.
The 28 year old who had scored 4 goals in his two previous
World Cup appearance thus in 2006 and 2010 broke the record as Africa’s
all-time top scorer when he scored in the 63rd minutes in Ghana’s
2-2 stalemate with Germany on Saturday evening to equal Milla’s record.
“Yea personally am happy scoring five goals in a
tournament. The world cup tournament. It is not easy but am the captain of the
team. Am leading the team and I want the team to go places. But personally am
happy, Gyan said just after the game against Germany.
Another goal by the Ghanaian international will see him set
a new record as Africa’s all-time top scorer at the World Cup.
