Ghana Coach Dr. James Kwasi Appiah
believes the blend of Young and Experience players in his current squad will brace
his side in the World Cup tournament which kick stars today.
After several weeks of preparation, the
53 year old assembled 15 debutants in his 23 man squad to Brazil to begin their
campaign on Monday June 16th with USA in their opening group G match
in Natal.
Although questions have been ask on
Kwasi Appiah’s final 23 to the South American nation especially in defence, the
soft spoken coach believes his current squad will be able to execute a good
performance at the Brazil tournament with the merger of young and experience
players.
"In the team now is a mixture of
experience and youth. I always
believe that there's always a first time," the Ghana coach told
ghanafa.org.
"And the crop of players that we
have at the moment are all playing high level football."They [new players]
want to make a name and the experienced players want to leave a mark. It's a
very good mixture”.
Ghana will be hoping to better their quarter
final berth chalked four years ago in South Africa and possibly emerge as the
first African country to make it to the last four of the World Cup competition.
