COMEREHENSIVE UPDATES ON GHANAIAN PLAYERS ABROAD




Another exciting weekend in the major leagues across the Globe as Ghanaian abroad continues with their impressive display for their respective clubs. SPORTS LOUNGE Frank Darkwah brings you an ample updates on how Ghanaian players fared over the weekend for the teams.




ITALY
Sulley Muntari returned from injury to help AC Milan beat Livorno 3-0 at home. The midfielder came on for Dutch international Nigel De Jong in the 66th min. Fellow Ghanaian team mate Micheal Essien could not make the match day squad for Milan as he was still nursing an injury. Youngster Alfred Duncan played 90 min for Livorno and got booked. At the Atleti Azzurri’s d’Italia, Godfred Donsah came on in the 68th min and got himself booked 9min later when his side Hellas Verona went to beat Atalanta 2-1. AC Milan loanee Kingsley Boateng could not taste any min when Catania won 2-1 over Sampdoria at home. Rahman Chibsah was a bench warmer in Sassoulo’s 1-0 away win over Chievo Verona. In other games, Isaac Cofie came on for 21 year old Malien forward Moussa Konate in the 56th min as Genoa were defeated 2-1 at home by Cagliari. Inform Afriyie Acquah was surprisingly left on the Parma bench in their 2-0 home loss to International Milan. Hard working Emmanuel Agyemang Badu had an excellent game when he featured the whole duration in Udinese’s 1-1 draw at home with Napoli. Elsewhere at the Juventus Stadium, prolific Kwadwo Asamoah played at his usual left wing back position for Juventus when they thumped Bologna 1-0.

In the Seria B, Masahudu Alhassan played 90 min for Latina when they went away to beat Bari 1-0. Isaac Ntow was also in action for Brecia as they were defeated 3-1 at home. Amidu Salifu was booked in the 29th min and played the entire duration for Modena in their 2-2 draw with Carpi. Fellow Ghanaian Acosty Boadu-Maxwell warmed the Carpi bench. Moro Alhassan was on the bench for Cesena who went away to draw with Cittadella. David Moro was also substituted in the 88th min when Empoli lost 1-2 to Lanciano. Nii Nortey Ashon could only watch from the bench in Spezia’s 1-0 win at home over Siena.





GERMANY
Kelvin-Prince Boateng was on the losing side when Schalke O4 lost 3-1 to VFB Stuttgart. The midfielder was showed the yellow card in the 40th min and lasted the entire game for the royal blues. Karim Bellarabi was out from the Braunschweig team who lostIn the 2-0 to title winners Bayern Munich at home.

In the Bundesliga II, Charles Takyi was in full action for Energie Cottbus when they were held to a 1-1 draw at home with St Pauli. Marcel Appiah enjoyed his defensive role but could not help Arminia Bielefeld avoid a 2-1 defeat to TSV 1860 Munich. Abdul Baba Rahman could not come on to play for SpVgg Greuther Furth when they drew 2-2 with SC Paderborn 07. Reagy Ofosu was on the bench for FC Ingolstadt 04 who drew 0-0 with VFR Aalen.


PORTUGAL
Both Nii Plange and Bernard Mensah were on the bench for Vitoria Guimaraes with Nii Plange coming on in the 45 min to play when they lost 2-3 at home to Arouca. David Addy was missing from the Guimaraes match day squad. Haminu Dramani could not make the Gil Vicente team who were held at home to a 0-0 draw by Estoril.



BELGIUM
Both Daniel Opare and Abdul Iddi Yakini were in action for Standard Liege and KSC Lokeren when the game ended in a 2-2 stalemate. Nana Kwasi Asare played full throttle for KAA Gent who won 4-2 over Waasland-Beveren. Abraham Kudermo came on to help Royal Charleroi to a 2-0 win at home over Cercle Brugge KSV.



SWITZERLAND
Three Ghanaians were involved in the game between Young Boys and FC Sion Sitten when the game ended 0-0 with former Hearts of Oak striker Samuel Affum playing 75 min for Young Boys while Ishmael Yartey and Ebenezer Assifuah also played for Sion.





ENGLAND
Derrick Owusu Boateng was left out of the Fulham squad that lost 1-3 to Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

In the Championship, Seth Ofori-Twumasi sat on the bench when Yeovil Town went away to draw at Blackburn Rovers. Ghanaian born Jeffrey Schlupp started at left back for Leicester City and was substituted in the 77th min as his side beat Queen Park Rangers at the King Power Stadium. Former Arsenal man Emmanuel Frimpong was not included in the Barnsley team who lost 1-0 to Leeds United at the Oakwell Stadium. Inform Albert Adomah enjoyed full min for Middelsbrough when they lost 1-2 to Millwall at the Riverside Stadium.

In the League one, former Liverpool youth midfielder David Amoo started for Carlisle United and was substituted in the 85th min in his side’s 1-1 draw with Walsall.

In the league two, Ghanaian born midfielder Kwasi Appiah scored in the 49th min for Wimbledon in their 2-2 draw Newport County. Fellow Ghanaian team mate Will Antwi was on the bench for Wimbledon. At the Fratton Park, striker Patrick Agyemang came on to play the last 3min and helped Portsmouth defeat Bristol Rovers 3-2.

In the English Conference, Kelvin Amankwaa was booked in the 22nd min when Salisbury City lost 2-3 to Aldershot. Kobby Arthur came on to play the last 9 min for Lincoln who beat Cambridge United by a narrow 1-0. 






SCOTLAND
In the Scottish Premier League, Prince Buaben played full game for Partick Thistle when they beat Kilmaarnock 2-1. Arsenal loanee Daniel Boateng was left on the Hibernian bench who lost 2-0 to St Mirren.




SOUTH AFRICA
Awal Mohammed returned to the starting lineup of Meritzburg united who managed a 2-0 win over Ajax Cape Town. Fellow Ghanaians Mohammed Yakubu and Frank Sarfo Gyemfi were bench warmers for Meritzburg. Edwin Gyimah was in the captains arm band when Supersport United drew 0-0 with Bidvest Wits at home. Rashid Sumaila came on in the 46th min to aid Mamelodi Sundowns to a 1-0 win at Moroka Swallows. John Awuah saw full min in Amazulu’s 0-0 draw at home with Pretoria University.







FRENCE
Abdul Majeed Waris was missing in the Valenciennes team due to injury when they were horrified at home as they lost 6-2 to Nantes. Andre Ayew played in Marsilles 0-0 draw at home with Lille. Jordan Ayew played full game for Sochaux who went to beat Stade de Reims 1-0.

In the Ligue 2, Dennis Appiah helped Caen defeat Auxerre 1-0 at home.





USA
In the major league soccer, Partrick Nyarko started for Chicago and was substituted in the 88th min in their 1-1 home draw with New England. Kofi Sarkodie also received his marching orders in the 82nd min in Houston 0-0 away draw with Philadelphia Union. In other games, former under 20 midfielder Gershon Koffie played 90 min for Vancouver Whitecaps who drew 2-2 with Los Angeles Galaxy. Young midfielder Kofi Opare was on the LA Galaxy bench. Elsewhere at the Columbus Crew Stadium, Dominic Oduro Started for Crew and was substituted in the 66th min during their 1-1 draw with DC United. Young striker Kalif Alhassan made way for American midfielder Micheal Nanchoff in Portland Timbers 0-1 loss to Real Salt Lake.




SPAIN
Fatau Mohammed watched from bench in Granada’s 0-4 humiliation at Sevilla. Richmond Boakye Yiadom came on to play the last 2o min for Elche who were beaten 2-0 by Athletico Madrid.

In the Segunda division, 20 year old Athletico Madrid loanee Thomas Partey featured in Malloca’s0-3 home loss to Deportivo La Coruna. The midfielder was however booked in trhe 54th min.



NETHERLANDS
In the Dutch cup, Fred Benson inspired PEC Zwolle beat Ajax Amsterdam 5-1 at home to qualify to the next round.



RUSSIA
Mubarak Wakasu played 46min for FK Rubin Kazan who beat Spartak Moscow 2-1 at home. Rabiu Mohammed was on the losing side when his side Kuban Krasnador was beaten 4-0 at home by CSKA Moscow. The midfielder however came on in the 70th min for Romanian midfilder Gheorghe Bucur.



SWEDEN
In the Allsvenskanliga, David Accam played 90min but was on the losing side when Helsingborg lost 1-2 to Halmstad. Kwame Bonsu played in defense and was booked in the 52nd min when Mjallby lost 1-4 at home to BK Hacken. Ghanaian duo Walid Atta and Nasiru Mahammed were in the Hacken team with Atta making a start and enjoyed 90min while Nasiru came on in the 70 min.
