Mayor of
Accra, Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije has called on Ghanaians to rally their
support behind the Black Stars when the World Cup kicks Start next month.
The 58 year
old Ghanaian politician who was installed into office by late president John
Atta Mills in 2009 says Ghanaians must commit and pray as well as confer their
support behind the team ahead of the World Cup.
“Going to
the World Cup, Every Ghana must step up and every Ghanaian must be committed to
be praying for the Black Stars, to be committed in supporting them, coming out
to wear the national colours and to cheer them up so that we can beat all the
countries. No matter who they are we can beat them and go all the way to the finals
and bring the cup to Ghana”, he told senior broadcaster and Happy FM’s morning
show host Charles Osei Asibey.
The major
also went on to advice the team to give in their best at the tournament.
“I think I
would like the Black Stars to know that as Ghanaians they should bare in mind
that we are all behind them. They have made us all proud by qualifying to play
in the world cup. I will urge them that they should always bare in mind they
have the support of Ghanaians and they should play their hearts out for the
nation”, he added.
The Black
Stars have been tagged to better their quarter finals finished four year ago in
South Africa.
