COMPREHENSIVE UPDATES ON GHANAIAN PLAYERS ABROAD




Another great weekend in Europe as most of the European leagues came to an end. Ghanaian players as usual were in action for their respective teams with Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Jordan Ayew, Patrick Nyarko, Adam Abdul Basit and Mubarak Wakasu getting on target for their various teams. 

SPORTS LOUNGE Frank Darkwah brings you a low down on how Ghanaian players abroad fared for their individual teams over the weekend.





ITALY
Emmanuel Agyemang Badu came off the bench and scored on the 90th minutes mark to help Udinese secure themselves a point at Hellas Verona when the game ended 2-2. Ghanaian youngster Godfred Donsah warmed the bench for Verona. Defender Isaac Donkoh could not make the Inter Milan team that crushed Lazio 4-1 at the San Siro. Sulley Muntari played a part in Milan’s 2-1 loss to Atalanta on Sunday afternoon. Muntari’s deflected shot resulted in the only goal for Milan. Fellow Ghanaian team mate Micheal Essien was an unused substitute for Milan. Kingsley Boateng as usual was on the substitute bench for Catania when they went away to beat Bologna 2-1.Former under 20 midfielder Alfred Duncan played 62 minutes for Livorno when they lost 1-0 at home to Fiorentina.  Rahman Chibsah could not play in Sassoulo’s 4-2 win at home over Genoa. Afriyie Acquah played 90 minutes for Parma and got booked in the 89th minutes in their 1-1 draw with Livorno. Elsewhere at the Stadio Olympico, Kwadwo Asamoah lasted the entire duration for Juventus when they pip AS Roma 1-0.

In the Seria B, Masahudu Alhassan played full game for Latina when they beat Ternana 2-0 at home. Elsewhere the Alberto Braglia Stadium, Amidu Salifu was booked in the 19th minutes and was substituted at the start of the second half when Modena crushed Novara 3-1. Both Isaac Ntow and Nana Welbeck were not included in the Brescia team that went away to draw 1-1 with Reggina. Nii Ashong was missing in the Spezia set up in their 0-2 loss to US Avellino. Acosty Boadu-Maxwell could not come off the bench to play for Carpi who won 2-0 away.





GERMANY
Star man Kelvin-Prince Boateng was in the captains arm band and helped Schalke secure a champions League spot when the thrashed Nurnburg 4-1 at the Veltins Arena. The midfielder how played the full 90minutes for the Royal blues. Fellow Ghanaian team mate Anthony Annan was on the Schalke bench and did not have any minutes of time. Karim Bellarabi played the entire duration for Eintracht Braunschweig who lost 3-1 to TSG Hoffenheim.

In the Bundesliga II, Marcel Appiah came on in the 57th minutes for Arminia Bielefeld when they went away to secure all 3 points as they beat Dynamo Dresden 3-2.  Charles Takyi and Reggy Ofosu were both missing from the Energy Cottbus and Ingolstadt team respectively when they home team Ingolstadt won 2-0. Abdul Baba Rahman came from the bench to play the last 7 minutes for SpVgg Greuther Furth in their 2-0 win over Sandhausen



FRANCE
In the Ligue 1, Andre Ayew was a full timer for Marseille who drew 1-1 with Bordeaux. Jonathan Mensah was introduced in the 62nd minutes for Evian and helped them beat Nice 2-0 at home. Jordan Ayew continued his impressive form for Sochaux when he scored his sides first in their 2-1 win over John Boye’s Rennes. Both players enjoyed the full game for their respective teams. Abdul Majeed Waris played 90 minutes in his Valenciennes 1-2 lost at home to Monaco.





NETHERLANDS
Christian Atsu lost a Europa League spot after his side Vitessi lost 4-1 to FC Groningen. The Ghanaian winger however featured the entire duration for his side. Mitch Apau helped Waalwijk maintain themselves in the league when they drew 1-1 with De Graafschap. Both Dennis Odoi and Eugen Ansah were in the match day squad for Lokeren when they lost 3-1 to Zulte-Waragem with Odoi starting and playing the full game while Ansah came off the bench in the 68th minutes.



PORTUGAL
Left back David Nii Addy was left out of the Guimaraes squad who beat Braga 1-0 at home. Youngster Nii Plange and Bernard Mensah were included in the match day squad for Guimaraes with Plange featuring the whole game while Mensah could only watch from the bench.





RUSSIA
Mohammed Rabiu could only watch from the bench in his Kuban Krasnodar’s 2-1 lost to Ural. Mubarak Wakasu opened the scoring for FK Rubin Kazan who hammered Savetov 4-0 away. The 23 year old however could not last the entire game as he made way in the 75th minutes.


USA
Nana Attakora was On the DC United bench when they won 1-0 over Philadelphia Union. Both Lloyd Sam and Patrick Nyarko played for New York Red Bulls and Chicago respectively when the game ended 5-4 in favor of Chicago with Patrick Nyarko scoring the winning goal for his side. The midfielder was however substituted in the 78th min. Lloyd Sam played the full came for Red Bull. Gershon Koffie tasted 90 minutes for Vancouver Whitecaps and got booked in the 21st minutes when beat Columbus Crew 1-0. Fellow Ghanaian Dominic Oduro came on to play for Columbus Crew.





SOUTH AFRICA
Goalkeeper Fatau Dawda was on the bench in Orlando Pirates last game of the season when they won 3-1 over Golden Arrows. John Awuah got himself booked in the 40th minutes but lasted the whole game for Amazulu who lost 3-0 to Kaizer Chiefs. Rashid Sumaila won the league title with Mamelodi Sundowns although he could not make the team when they drew 1-1 with Meritzburg United. Both Yakubu Mohammed and Frank Sarfo Gyamfi were on the bench for Meritzburg with Yakubu coming on to play the last 3 minutes of the game. Former Asante Kotoko defender Awal Mohammed was not in the Meritzburg team. Adam Abdul Basit came on n the 46th minutes to score two goals in 2 minutes for Free State Stars who beat Moroka Swallows 3-0 away. Former Liberty and under 20 goalkeeper Daniel Agyei was on the bench for Free State Stars. Edwin Gyimah was also in action when Supersport United beat Bay United 4-2 at home. The Ghanaian defender lasted 90 minutes for Supersports.




SPAIN
Richmond Boakye Yiadom came on to play the last 11 minutes for Elche in their 0-0 draw with Barcelona. Thomas Partey missed Mallorca’s 1-1 draw with Numancia due to injury.



SWITZERLAND
Ishmeal Yartey scored in Sion Sitten 3-1 win over FC Thun. Team mate Ebenezer Assifuah featured for Sion.





BELGIUM
Daniel Opare played full game for Standard Liege when they lost 1-0 at home to Club Brugge. Frank Acheampong was introduced in the 82nd minutes and helped Anderlatch crushed Genk 4-0 at home. Versatile Nana Kwasi Asare was not in action for Genk.



CZECH REPUBLIC
Former Ghana Youth international and Tema Youth striker Francis Narh lasted 58 minutes for Banik Ostrava when they managed a 3-1 win over Jihlava.
