Former Youth and Sports
minister Yaw Osafo Marfo has called on Football Authorities to inculcate
discipline in the development of the game of football in the country.
According to the former
Akyem Oda MP, under whose tenure that Ghana sealed qualification to the World
Cup for the first time in Germany in 2006, the country is going to be in
distress if discipline is not maintained in football in the country.
The former minister
who doubles as a lawyer has therefore called on the minister Hon. Elvis Afriyie
Ankrah together with his officials to ensure they maintain the attitude of
discipline in players in other to push football in the country forward.
“Football must have
discipline. Discipline in the team, discipline in the supporters, discipline in
the management. There should be discipline. If you do not have discipline you
are going to be in serious trouble, and therefore it is important that the
minister is able to keep discipline. So he and his officials should be
disciplined themselves to be able to make up discipline into the players”, he
told Power FM.
The minister also went on
to call on the Black Stars players to give in their best at the 2014 FIFA World
Cup.
“We should always make the
players understand that being selected to go to the World Cup is a privilege
for you to make a mark in the World. Ghana is giving you the opportunity to
shine and to make money and to become powerful in your own rights, and there
for you should make sure that you will bring all your best. To me Ghana is
putting a plate form on your behalf”, he said.
Ghana is however expected
to make a huge impact in the Global soccer mundial after registering their name
in the Golden books of World football following their excellent performance at
the 2010 World Cup being the only African team to get the quarter final stage
of the competition.
