Ghana
midfielder Michael Essien has applauded 2014 UEFA Champions League winners Real
Madrid after the los Blanco’s won their 10th European league title
beating fellow country neighbours Althletico Madid at the Estadio da Luz in
Portugal on Saturday night.
Madrid were
able to acquire their first European title after 12 years when they thrashed
Atletico by 4 goals to one, with goals coming from Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale,
Marcelo and reigning World player of the
year Christiano Ronaldo.
Essien who
had a loan spell with Real in the 2012/2013 league season had established a
keen relationship with the Spanish side ever since leaving the club.
“Congratulations
to Real Madrid for winning their 10th Champions League trophy, what
a game though, great final#halamadrid” Essien tweeted just after the game.
The Ghanaian
international is however expected to join the Black Stars Camp in the
Netherlands.
