ISTANBUL CEO HAILS REFEREE DESPITE LOSS

CEO of Akyem Tachiman side Istanbul FC, Martin Owusu Asare has hailed referee SB Bortey after his side’s 0-3 loss to Tema Youth at the Babayara Sports Stadium on Tuesday in day two of the national division one middle league.

Istanbul following their 2-1 loss to Gt Olympics in their opening match once again fell when they were defeated by the Tema based side at the same venue.

The Akyem Tachiman side had complained about bad officiating in their first game against Gt Olympics claiming center referee Yaw Ametepay officiated in favor of Olympics. But according to the CEO, they were pleased with referee SB Bortey who officiated their second game against Tema Youth despite the loss.

“Yes we have lost. But I must confess we were satisfied with the decisions of referee SB Bortey. That referee is really a good referee and God bless him. He really officiated the game very well. All his decisions were on point and they were genuine”, He told Montie FM.

“He really understands the kind of work he does. And I wish we had about three or four of his kind in the league. He did well and we had no complains. All the three goals were all genuine goals”, he added.

Istanbul after losing their second game on a row are now out of the race to qualify for the 2014/2015 Premier League season.

They now face Okwawu United who have also lost all two games to complete their group matches.
