ANTHONY BAFFOE BACKS ASAMOAH GYAN TO EXCEL IN CAPTINCY ROLE AT WORLD CUP

Ex-Black Stars defender Anthony Baffoe has reiterated Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan to excel in his role as the captain of the team at the FIFA World cup this year.

According to the former Black Stars captain, he believes the 27 year old can be able stand the mantle given to him although the player has already admitted he is under pressure to lead Ghana at the Global soccer fiesta.

“It’s a big stage. It’s something very important. You are going to lead your team out of the tunnel on the pitch to the biggest event when it comes to football and especially also in Brazil and it’s something special. A player generally, if he goes on the pitch and he has no butterflies in his stomach, that means he is no more hungry and that’s what he (Gyan) was talking about. Already when you are playing and leading the team, it’s a big responsibility and Insha Allah he will make it,” Baffoe told Power Sports.

The Al Ain goal poacher who was appointed as the substantive captain for the Stars in October 2012 has been charged to lead the team to its first semi finals berth and possibly to the finals, and the former Sunderland  marksman will be willing to live up the task.
