Executive
committee member of the Ghana football Association and the head of women
football in Ghana, Madam Lillian Addy has pointed out a World Cup qualification
as the main target for the Black Queens.
The
Black Queens of Ghana on Sunday beat their Burkinabe counterparts 3-0 in Ouagadougou in the first league
qualifier of the first round for the 2014 African women’s championships in
Namibia.
“
Our ladies did very well especially in the first half but they were affected by
the weather in the second half, so they could not deliver but I believe they
felt they were content with the 3 goals
that they had so they had to relax and make way for the second League”.
“Our
target is to qualify for the World cup. The Championships for 2014 is the
qualifiers for the World cup and we want to make amends, the coach himself has assured us of getting us to
achieve our said objective. So we want to also rally behind the team so that we
all achieve one goal, thus qualifying for the World cup and that is our main
target and making an impact at the World cup".
Ghana
failed to qualify to the last edition of the World cup in 2011 in Germany after
failing to make it to the African championships in Equatorial Guinea.
