REVEALED: MAXWELL KONADU EXPLAINES WHY HE INCLUDED EIGHT KOTOKO PLAYERS IN CHAN SQUAD

Head coach of the local Black Stars Maxwell Konadu has revealed the reason why he included eight of Asante Kotoko’s players into his squad in the CHAN tournament that took place in South Africa last month. Speaking with SPORTS LOUNGE, the former Asante Kotoko trainer said he choose his players based on quality and that he assigned the best of squads to the tournament which saw Ghana finishing as runners up.

“ Lets say at the time of the tournament if we had maybe Dwarfs or Lions doing very very well in the League, I would have gone there and take more players from there. Because they are doing very well. So that is one of the main reason why I took eight players from Kotoko”. He exclusively told SPORTS LOUNGE.

“The other reason is that I knew the players very well because I have worked with them before and knew their capabilities. But saying that you also have to think about this. Who was the player that was doing very very well at the local scene that wasn’t selected? Every player that was doing well, at least scoring goals was there”. The Black Stars assistant coach added.

The local Black Stars failed to break a long awaited jinx of Ghana not winning any silver wear at senior level in 32 years after losing 3-2 on penalties to Libya in the finals.
