GHANAIAN PLAYERS ABROAD




As the various leagues across the World reaches its climax, Ghanaian players continue their exploits for their respective clubs. Ghana wonder kid Majeed Waris stole the show when he bagged in a brace for Valenciennes, with Christian Atsu rewarding himself with a goal for Vitessi. And as usualSPORTS LOUNGE brings you a recap of how Ghanaian players fared for their clubs abroad

GERMANY
Kelvin Prince Boateng played 90 min for Schalke O4 but was booked in the 78th min when the Royal blues drew 0-0 with Mainz at the Veltins Arena on Friday night. In the Bundesliga 2, defender Marcel Appiah played the entire duration for  Arminia Belefield when they lost 0-2 at home to FC Ingolstadt O4.

BELGIUM
Frank Acheampong came on to play the last 15 min when Aderletcht lost 1-2 away to KSC Lokeren. Daniel Opare was not in the Standard Liege team that lost 2-3 at home to KAA Gent. Versatile defender Nana Kwasi Asare played 90 min for Gent. Former Hearts of Lions midfielder Bernard Yao Kumordzi played the entire game for Racing Genk in their game against Waasland.

FRANCE
Ghana prodigious striker Abdul Majeed Waris hit his first brace for Valencienne in their 2-2 draw game with Sochaux at the Stade du Hainaut on Saturday night. Fellow Ghana international Jordan Ayew was in action for Sochaux but was substituted in the 82nd min. This means the former Right to Dream Academy forward who is on loan from Russian side Spartak Moscow has scored four goals in 7 appearances for the Les Atheniens. Still in the French Liga 1, Andre Ayew played full throttle for Marseille when they won 1-0 at the Stade Veladrome. Defender Jonathan Mensah after returning from suspension lost his place in the starting line up for the first time as he sat on the bench when Evian Thonan Gaillard lost 1-2 to Bordeaux. Prolific defender John Boye return into the starting line up for Rennes who went to beat Nantes 3-0.  In the Liga 2, Kwame Nsor was still as he is still nursing an injury when Metz beat Clermont Foot 1-0 at home.

ENGLAND
World cup hopeful Derrick Boateng remains under the pecking order at Fulham as he could not make the teams match day squad that drew 1-1 with West Brom. In the Championship, Albert Adomah came on for Curtis Main in the 72nd min but could not help Boro to secure a win at home as they were held to a 0-0 drawn game by Leeds united at the Riverside Stadium.
Emmanuel Frimpong was in action and played 90 min for Barnley when they beat Millwall 1-0 at the Oakwell Stadium. Still in the Championships, Jeffery Schullp was missing in action when Leicester city won 3-0 over Ipswitch town at home. In the English league two, Patrick Agyemeng came on to play the last eight min when they were mesmerized 5-1 by Scunthorpe united.

SCOTLAND
Prince Buaben was booked in the 67th min and was substituted 2min from time when by Stephan O’Donnell when they beat Aberdeen 3-1 at the Firhill Stadium. Arsenal loanee Daniel Boateng could only watch from the bench when Hibernian managed to secure a 1-1 draw away at Kilmarnock.

SPAIN
Former Bechem united and under 20 striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom could not get the opportunity to score against Madrid for the 2nd time as he warmed the bench for Elche when they lost 3-0 to Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. Fatau Mohammed came on in the 21st min for Granada when they managed to secure 1-1 draw with 7th place Valencia away from home. In the Segunda division Athletico Madrid loanee Thomas Partey also warmed the bench for Mallorca who drew away at Mirandes.

ITALY
In Italy, Ghanaian duo Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari helped AC Milan secure a vital 2-0 away win over Sampdoria at the Comunale Luigi Ferraris. Milan coach Clarence Seedorf named Muntari in his started 11. The 28 year old was however booked in the 63rd min and was taken out for fellow country man Micheal Essien in the 64th min. In form Emmanuel Agyemang Badu tasted 88 min of action when Udinese shared spoils with Atalanta. Kwadwo Asamoah set up the only goal of the game for Argentine Carlos Tevez as Juventus beat Torino 1-0 to keep their place on top of the league. Ghanaian born Italian Kingsley Boateng came on to play the last 20 min for Catania who lost to Chievo Verona by 2-0. Elsewhere at the Armando Picchi stadium, Alfred Duncan played full match and was very impressive when his side Livorno lost 2-3 to Hellas Verona. Ghanaian youngster Isaac Donkor who is knocking on the doors of the Ghana under 20 team, Black satellites was not on the Inter bench who drew 1-1 with Cagliari at home.

Elsewhere in the Seria B, Acosty Boadu Maxwell came on in the 90th min for Carpi who lost at home to Cesena. Fellow Ghanaian compatriots Moro Alhassan was on the Cesena bench. Left back Masud Alhassan also played the entire game for Latina who secured a 0-0 draw at Lanciano. Ghanaian youngster Nii Nortey Ashong was on the bench for Spezia when they drew 1-1 with Palermo away.

NETHERLANDS
In the Holland Eredivision, Dutch born Jeffery Sarpong came on in the 57th min for NAC Breda when they went away to secure a 0-0 a point with a 0-0 drawn game with Heerenven. Kwame Quansah was an unused substitute when SC Heracles Almelo drew 1-1 with PEC Zwolle. Former Real Sportive midfilder Fred Benson came on for Zwolle in the 33rd min. Ghanaian born  Mawouna Kodjo Amevor came on for Job Van der Linden in the 86th min when his side Go Ahead Eagles lost 2-3 at ADO Den Haag.
 In other games, Prolific striker Elvis Manu was booked in the 4th and played 83 min for Cambuur Leeuwarden when they won 1-0 at the Cambuur Stadium. Ghanaian wizkid Christian Atsu Twasam was on target for Vitessi Arheim when they beat RKC Waalwijk. The 22 year old winger scored a wonderful curler after receiving a pass from team mate Mike Havenaar in the 68th min to help the Vitas claim all 3 points at the Gelredome stadium. Midfielder Schadrach Kwasi Eghan played 54 min for Twente Enschede in their 2-2 draw with Fayenood.

GREECE
Samuel Inkoom, received a lot of applause from head coach Anastasiadis after he was voted man of the match in Platanias 2-1 home win in the Greek Super league. Arago Jamal came on in the 81st min to help Atromitos to a 2-0 win over FC Xanthi

TURKEY
Jerry Akaminko was in full action for Eskisehirspor when they battled in a 0-0 drawn game with Antalyaspor.

SWITZERLAND
Former Hearts of Oak striker Samuel Affum also came on to feature for Young Boys when they piped Lucerne by 2-1.

DR CONGO
In the Congo league, captivating winger Solomon Asante for TP Mazembe in the 76th min in their local derby game with FC Lupopo at the Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi.
