Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan is desperate to end the country’s trophy drought as captain of the Black Stars according to his senior brother Baffour Gyan.
Asamoah Gyan was made captain of the Black Stars in the lead up to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations staged in South Africa where Ghana finished fourth.
Ghana after 33 years has failed to win any silverware on the African continent since winning its last African Cup of nation trophy in 1982 in Libya.
But Baffour, who is a former Ghana international himself, has revealed how bad his younger brother wants to end this long-overdue wait for silverware as captain of the Black Stars.
“One of his prayers is to be able to win the AFCON with the Black Stars and I’m sure God will grant him that soon” his said.
“He enjoys playing his football and he always makes his football do the talking for him and I feel that is the most important thing.”
The closest the Black Stars have come to winning the
Nations Cup was in 1992 and 2010 when Ghana lost on penalties and a solitary
strike to Ivory Coast and Egypt respectively.
