Assistant coach of Amidaus professionals, Mercy
Tagoe-Quarcoo has revealed her desire of taking up a position as head coach of
any of the female national teams in the near future.
The Former FIFA referee who became Ghana’s first female
coach to be on the technical bench of a club in the top-flight football division, the
Ghana Premier League when she helped the tema-based side [Amidaus] during the 2013/14
season is aiming to handle one of the female national teams thus [Black Queens,
Black Princesses and Black Maidens] when given the opportunity.
After several calls by the football public to allow females
take up positions as head coaches of the
women’s national teams in the country, Madam Mercy Tagoe who is a CAF License “B”
Coaching certificate holder is seeking to use her rich vein of experience in
coaching, refereeing and as an ex-national football player to empower women
football in the country by taking up the coaching job of a female national team.
“It is the ultimate ambition I want to achieve. So am
praying hard. Since I have been able to coach a team in the premiership, I believe
that next time when appointments are being made I will get the opportunity.
That is why am also working very hard to get that opportunity”, She indicated.
The 36 year old in 2010 was named as SWAG Best Referee of
the year after handling the 2010 Africa Women’s Championship final between
Equatorial Guinea and South
Africa.
She also officiated at the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup and represented
Ghana at the 1999 and 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup as a player.
