Ex-Ghanaian international Tony Baffoe has declared his view
on Ghana’s performance at the 2014 FIFA World Cup saying the country must put
everything behind and learn from the mistakes that occurred in Brazil.
The former Black Stars defender who made history as the
first African to lead out two teams at the World Cup finals when he led Germany
and Argentina onto the pitch during the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals at the Maracana
Stadium in an interview with GTV articulated that the nation must try and pick
up some lessons from the errors made at the Copa
Mundial.
“The preparation on and off the field was very important.
Man management is also very important. And Ghana will always produce talents,”
he noted.
“We will never lack talents. But we are back now and
instead of pointing fingers we must analyze the situation and move forward”.
“We have to work on certain structures and work on man
management. I think this is very important. We have to look at the different characters
of every player. Ghana will always be a football nation”.
“But what kind of lessons are we taking out from what
happened in the World Cup. I think we need to learn from our mistakes and with
that we can move ahead”.
The 49-year-old FIFA General Coordinator was also the match
commissioner in a couple of games at the World Cup including the game between
Spain and Chile at the group stage.
Baffoe was the first Ghanaian expatriate-player to play for
the Black Stars. He was capped 16 times for Ghana, notably at 1992 and 1994
African Cup of Nations.
