Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng has described fellow
countryman Sulley Muntari as “the best player he has ever met” despite the
resent alleged misconduct appended on the AC Milan Star.
Muntari has been criticized heavily by Ghanaian football enthusiasts
after the 28-year old was alleged to have engage in a burst up with Black Stars
management committee member Moses Armah Parker, launching an “unprovoked attack”
on the Medeama owner during the team’s stay in Brazil, which has eventually led
to an indefinite suspension imposed on him by the Ghana FA.
Despite the various attacks launched on the former Inter
Milan player after the unfortunate incidence, Derek Boateng who has been a long
time friend to Muntari and has also played with him at both junior and senior levels
in the national team has showered praises on the AC Milan star.
“For me Sulley Muntari is the best player and best person I
have ever met in my life. I know people say a lot of bad things about him but
if you are close to this guy you will love him and you will do everything for
him because he will do the same for you. Sulley is a guy who will always be
there for you”, Derek told Accra-based Montie FM.
“Normally in Africa when something is A they want you to
say B. But Sulley is not that kind of person. He will tell you the thing is A
because is A.”
“And he will never say something bad about you. If you do
any mistake he will approach and tell you what you did was wrong. But people don’t
get it”.
“He always gives to the poor and make sure people are
happy. Sulley is the nicest guy I have ever met in my life. My entire football
career. And I will always say that. Not because he is my friend. He is very
respectful but he doesn’t like people who are not honest”.
Derek also spoke on Sulley’s constant issues in the Black
Stars saying there might be a problem in the Black Stars team which has led to
Sulley’s continuous problems with the management team.
“Have you ever heard anything bad about him at club level?
But anytime he comes to the Black Stars there is an issue. Meaning there is a
problem at the Black Stars. Sulley is the nicest guy in the Black Stars team
right now”.
After being given an indefinite suspension, Muntari is
currently in Italy preparing ahead of the Pre-Season training with AC Milan.
He has been an integral member of the Black Stars for the
past 10 years and has represented Ghana in all three World Cup appearances,
thus 2006, 2010 and 2014.
