The Black Princesses of Ghana yesterday beat top Canadian
female side G-S United 2-0 in their second warm up game ahead of the 2014 FIFA
U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Goals from skipper Grace Adams and Edem Atovor ensured the Princesses
secured a vital win over the side that top the domestic female league in Canada.
Yesterday’s friendly was the team’s second test game since
touching down in Canada two weeks ago. Head coach Bashiru Hayford is using the
friendlies to prepare his side ahead of the tournament which kick starts from
August 5.
The Princesses are making their fourth consecutive World
Cup Appearance after competing in the 2008, 2010 and 2012 editions of the
tournament.
Ghana is locked in a though group with host Canada, Finland
and Korea DPR. Ghana takes on the host in the opening game of the tournament on
August 5 at the National Soccer Stadium in Toronto before taking on Korea DPR
at the same venue on August 12 and travel to Moncton to face Finland at the
Moncton stadium on August 12.
