Accra Hearts
of oak were able to beat Bechem United 2-1 on Sunday at the Accra Sports
Stadium to ease up the pressure on head coach Mohammed Polo.
The Phobians
who had gone into the game losing three matches on a row were eager to win all
3 points at their favorite grounds to apiece their fuming fans.
Midfielder
Emmanuel Hayford shot Mohammed Polo’s men in front as early in the 2nd
min when he connected a perfect cross from Winful Cobbinah to put his side
ahead. Bechem United responded 5min later when midfielder Prosper Donkor struck
from 25 yards to beat Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Tetteh Lugard.
The Phobians
looked dangerous after that equalizer creating some descent chances but the
striking pair made up of Ezekiel Tetteh and Winful Cobbinah failed to capitalize
on the opportunities that came their way.
The Rainbow
club started from where they left in the second half controlling and stringing
their passes together, shooting from afar. But it took the hands of Bechem goalkeeper
Ernest Adu to keep his side in the game.
Hearts
finally got their winning goal in the 78th min when Ivorian defender
Robin Gnagne scored from the spot kick after Winful Cobbinah had been fouled by
Bechem United captain Papa Yaw in the penalty box.
The win moves
Hearts to 41 points and are now on equal points with 2nd place
Hearts of Lions.
