Christian Atsu has revealed Argentina and Barcelona star Lionel Messi as his
role model saying the 27 year old former World footballer of the year has
exceptional qualities that he can emulate.
Atsu who has
already been described by many Ghanaian football enthusiasts as the Lionel
Messi of Ghana is noted by his swift, skill and pacy nature on the flanks whenever
on the field.
In an
interview with GFA TV, the 22 year old adroit winger who plays for Dutch side
Vitessi Arhiem says he choose the four time World footballer of the year award
winner as his role model because of the character he exhibits on the field of
play.
“Messi is my
favorite player. He is humble and respectful. He doesn’t speak a lot but does
his work on the pitch; to me he has many qualities that I think I can learn
from. He is always disciplined on the field of play. He is my role model. I
heard his story, were he came from, his family back ground and a whole lot and
now see where he has gotten to”, Atsu said.
Atsu was
drafted into the Black Stars by heard coach Kwasi Appiah and has since written
his name in the good books of the Ghanaian tactician. The former FC Porto
player will be hoping to make the cut to the Brazil.
