Prolific
Ghanaian striker Abdul Majeed Waris has revealed the reason behind his move to
Russian side Spartak Moscow after great exploit in the Swedish Allsvenskan with
BK Hacken.
The 22 year
old goal rustler made an inspiring move after winning the top scorer award in
the Swedish top flight scoring 23 goals in the 2012/2013 League season.
But the
former Right to Dream Academy graduate has disclosed the motive behind his move
to the Russian League saying he “wanted Champions league action” despite the
good offers that came his way.
“I had good
offers but I wanted to play champions League. If you make a choice you’ve made
a choice. It can be good it can be bad but all you have to do is give your
best,” He said in an interview with GFA TV.
“I went
there and in the pre-season I was doing very well. I was scoring goals and a
whole lot of that. But just before the season started I got injured when things
become tougher after I returned”.
Despite his
stirring move to the Otkrytie Arena, the Ghanaian forward failed to earn a
first team place in coach Dimitri Gunko
set up making only eleven appearance for the Krasno-Belye(Red and White)
scoring four times.
The lack of
playing time however made the Tamale born make an important loan move to French
side Valencienne in the January transfer window ahead of the World Cup where he
has been able to bag in nine goals in twelve games for the Les Atheniens so
far.
