Coach
Mohammed Polo continued his woes as head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak after the
Phobians were restrained by Kpando
Hearts of Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium when they lost by 2-1.
Hearts who
were hoping to overcome a 3-1 defeat they suffered in the hands of Liberty
professionals shot themselves in front in the 29th min when
midfielder Winful Cobbinah capitalized on a defensive blander to place the ball
past Lions goalkeeper Mozart Adjetey.
The Kpando
lads quickly responded to the call when Asante Kotoko loanee Kojo Poku blasted
home a powerful shot from 25yards into the inside of the post following a free
kick awarded in the 46th min to bring Lions back on level terms to
end the first half on a 1-1 score.
The second
half looked balanced as both sides created some few descent chances as
opportunities fell to the likes of Winful Cobbinah, Salasi Adjei and Eric Kumi
on the part of Heart of Oak, while Joseph Osae, Kojo Poku, Sam Yeboah and Idan
Conney also had some few chances to put Lions ahead.
But the
breakthrough finally came twelve min from time when substitute Prince Acquah
brilliantly controlled a ball on his chest and shot it past the diving arms of
Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Tetteh Luggard into the low bottom right corner of the
post to put Lions ahead for the first time in the game.
Lions kept
their impetus in the game for the remaining min as they took home the vital
three points at stake.
The win for
Lions mean they move above Hearts to occupy the second spot with 40 points
leaving the Phobians in third place with 38 points.
