Ghana
defender Rashid Sumaila has articulated his eagerness to win the ABSA Premier
league with Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 21 year
old center half who was signed by Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane at the
beginning of the 2013/2014 season is on the verge of clinching the ABSA premier
league with the Brazilian after topping the table with two games to spear.
“For now we
have only two games left to the end of the season and we are on top of the log.
We are hoping to win the league, so all we need to do is just to focus and keep
training. We play supersport and Meritzburg the following week, so we are
praying we win all those games and emerge champions”, he spoke in an interview
with Power FM.
A win in their
last two games will see the “Downs” secure their sixth domestic silver wear
after winning the South African Premier league on five occasions.
Rashid was
signed to Marabastad in February last year from Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko
and played a crucial role in Ghana’s qualification to the World Cup.
