Ghana’s sole
rep in Africa Medeama SC on Sunday afternoon lost 2-0 to Congolese Champions AC
Leopards at the Stade Denis Sassou Nguesso in Congo.
Two penalty
kicks in each half ensured the Ghanaians lost 2-0 in the first league of the
CAF Confederation cup play offs stage.
The Mauves
whom according to reports had greater percentage of possession went down in the
11th min after the Cameroonian referee spotted a foul in the 18 yard
box of Medeama.
The Congolese were however awarded a second penalty 10min later
but they blew it away as the game ended 1-0 at the end of the first half.
The 2012
Champions were awarded a third penalty when the ball struck the hand of Medeama
attacker Natheniel Asamoah after failing to clear the ball out of the penalty
box in the 61st min.
The Takwa
lads had their head coach Carlos Alberto Paullette sent off at the later stages
of the game after complaining of bad officiating from the center referee and his
assistants.
The loss
means Medeama will now have to score at least three unanswered goals in the
second league to ensure qualification into the group face.
