Germany Captain Phillip Lahm has described Group G of the 2014 World Cup as a huge challenge for Die Mannschaft, stating that Ghana’s Black Stars is a difficult opponent with a host of quality players.
“All three of them including (Ghana’s Kevin Prince Boateng, Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and USA Coach Jurgen Klinsmann) seeing the people just named, I think we’ve got a tough group, especially as we play Portugal in the first game. If we don’t win the first game…then we go up against Ghana and the USA, and they’re not easy opponents either. They both have some players in the Bundesliga. The group stage is a huge challenge but of course Germany has to reach the next round,” Lahm told FIFA.com.
On June 21st in Fortaleza, Ghana will attempt to avenge the 1-0 defeat suffered at the hands of Germany during the group stage of the 2010 World Cup when both sides clash at the Brazil 2014 event and Lahm claims the presence of many Bayern Munich players in Die Mannschaft is no guarantee that Germany will clinch a win over the Black Stars and go all the way to win the title.
