QUEENS BEAT BURKINA FASO TO ADVANCE TO FINAL ROUND OF AFRICAN WOMEN CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFIERS

The female national team of Ghana the Black Queens on Saturday afternoon beat Burkina Faso 3-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium to advance to the next round of the African women championships qualifiers.

Two goals from striker Agnes Aduako and a goal from burly forward Faiza Ibrahim saw the Queens winning on a 6-0 aggregate shoreline after they had won by the same margin a fort night ago in Ouagadougou.

Striker Faiza Ibrahim opened the scoring in the 25th min when she ballooned a ball into the roof of the net from close range after receiving a cross from winger Liticia Zikpi.

Ghana was awarded a penalty 5 min later after a shoot from midfielder Mercy Miles struck the hands of Burkina defender Edith Bambara in the 18 yard box. Striker Agnes Aduako took the mantle open herself and calmly slotted the ball into the far left corner of the net to make it 2-0 at the end of the first half.

The Queens could have scored more goals in the 2nd half but kept on squandering their chances. But the Queens awarded themselves with a 3rd and final goal in the 68th min after striker Agnes Aduako calmly tapped home a cross from woman of the match Portia Boakye after taking on the Burkina Faso right back perfectly.

The win however means Ghana will be facing their counterparts from Ethiopia in the next round of qualifiers.
