Ghanaian
striker Prince Tagoe has expressed confidence in Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dawda
saying the 28 year old still has got a lot to offer the Black Stars.
The Ghana
number one goalkeeper have been under the perking order since joining South
African giants Orlando Pirates from Ashanti Gold in June last year and have faced a lot of critics by many
Ghanaian football enthusiast over the lack of playing time in the ABSA Premier
league for the past nine months.
Meanwhile, many football fans have called for
his exclusion from the Ghana squad to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. But
the 27 year old former Hearts of Oak striker says he still thinks Fatau Dawda has
a lot to offer the senior national team.
“Fatau Dawda
is like a brother to me. We all grew up in Madina. Him, myself and one unknown
professional called Kasola who now plays for the Qatar national team. He
naturalized for them. But at the end of the day when I look at Fatau Dawda, I
know what he can do. Even when he has playing time or not”.
“If you are
a player you can have playing time but when you’re confident is not up to that
level you end up losing up. Although Fatau Dawda is not having a lot of playing
time, but I still believe when he is in the post he still shows something extra
ordinary”.
“Even if you
are playing Real Madrid and you still don’t have playing time is still a
disadvantage. Am not saying he is the best goalkeeper in the country. But I
have known him for some time now and I know what he is capable of doing from my
own perspective”. Tagoe said.
The 28 year
old former Okwawu United and Ashanti Gold shot stopper has only managed two
appearances for Pirates in the South African top flight since joining them, and
still remains second fiddle to South African goalkeeper Senzo Miyiwa.
