Ghana
started their campaign in the 2014 FIFA Women under 17 world cup in grand style
after recording a 2-0 over North Korea on Saturday night in Liberia(Costa Rica).
Striker Jane
Ayeiyam put Ghana ahead in 17 min after receiving a perfect cross from winger
Lardi Issaka down the left hand side of attack to calmly slot it into the
bottom corner.
The Asian side however pushed forward in search of the equalizer
after creating some numerous chances but the Ghanaian back liners made up of
Berlinda Anane, skipper Fatima Fuseini, Noami Anima and Gladys Amfobea ensured they
kept Ghana in the lead with some wonderful clearances to end the first half
with a 1-0 lead.
Ghana
therefore shot themselves in a comfortable lead by getting the second goal just
six min in the second half after striker Sandra Owusu Ansah capitalized on a
miscommunication between the Korean defends and the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.
The win
however put Ghana in a pole position ahead of their other two games against
Germany and Canada.
