RECAP OF GHANAIAN PLAYERS ABROAD






It was yet another great weekend for Ghanaian players abroad with Majeed Waris , Kwadwo Asamoah, Thomas Partey and Nana Kwasi Asare registering their names on the score sheet for their respective clubs. It wasn’t a good weekend for the Ayew brothers as Andre got injured while Jordan saw red. SPORTS LOUNGE brings you a recap of how Ghanaian players fared over the weekend

ENGLAND
Derrick Boateng could not make the Fulham team that lost 3-1 at Cardiff.  Albert Adomah was not included in the Middlesbrough team that won 2-0 at home over Ipswitch town at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday. In other games, Emmanuel Frimpong came off the bench in the 77th for Barnsley who managed a slim 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

FRANCE
In the French Liga 1, Burly defender Jonathan Mensah sat on the bench for Evian TG who went to beat Guingamp 1-0. Jordan Ayew received his marching orders in the 85th min after a nasty challenge on Monaco defender Antinio Raggi in a game that saw Sochaux loss 2-1 away. Wonder Kid Abdul Majeed Waris continued his impressive form by scoring and setting up another when his side Valencienne beat John Boye’s Stade Rennes. Boye however came on in the 77th min for Cameroonian Jean Makoun but could do little to help his side avoid defeat. Andre Ayew was substituted in the 44th min after receiving a head injury in Marseilles 1-0 lost at home to OG Nice. In the Liga 2, Dennis Appiah was in full action for Cean who drew 1-1 at Le Havre.

GERMANY
After two setbacks on a row in the Champions League and domestic league respectively, KP Boateng helped Schalke O4 to an emphatic 4-0 win in their game against Hoffenheim.  Anthony Annan was on the Schalke bench.The Ghanaian born played 90 min for the Royal blues.  In the Bundesliga II, defender Marcel Appiah played the entire duration for Armenia Belefield when they won 1-0 at home over FC Erzgebirge.

ITALY
Elsewhere in the Seria A, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu secured the bragging rights over his Ghanaian pals, Sulley Muntari and Micheal Essien when Udinese beat AC Milan 1-0 at home. Badu who started from the bench came on to play the last 5 min for Udinese with Micheal Essien also caming on in the 56th min for Milan. Whereas Sulley Muntari started for Milan and was booked in the 11th min. The midfielder was however substituted in the 71st min. Ghana young talent Kingsley Boateng who is on the radar of the Italian under 20 team could not get any min of action for Catania who shared the spoils at home with Cagliari. Kwadwo Asamoah scored a screamer and lasted the entire game for Juventus when they beat Fiorentina 1-0 at the Juventus Arena. The win thus send the old ladies 14 points clear adrift second placed AS Roma. Rahman Chibsah saw full action for Sassoulo who managed to hold Bologna to a goalless draw game. Isaac Cofie came on to play the second 45 min for Genoa when they lost 1-2 to his former club Chievo Verona. Young defender Isaac Donkoh was not included in the match day squad of Inter Milan who pip Torino 1-0 at the San Siro. Afriyie Acquah came on to play the last 7 min when he came on in the 83rd min to help Parma beat Hellas Verona 2-0 at home. Alfred Duncan could not get playing time when his side Livorno lost 2-4 to Sampdoria.
In the Seria B, former under 20 left back Mas-Ud Alhassan played the entire duration for Latina who went to beat Brecia 2-0 away. Fiorentina loanee Acosty Boadu-Maxwell came on in t he 79th min for Carpi when they lost 3-0 at home. Still in the Seria B, Salifu Mohammed played tasted 90 min for Modena who drew 2-2 with Padova at home. Moro Alhassan could only watch from the bench as his side Cesena lost 2-0 To US Pascera.

NETHERLANDS
Kwame Quansah and Mathew Amoah were named in the match day squad of Heracles Almelo when they were whitewashed 4-0 by AZ Alkmaar. Kwame Quansah however came on in the 22nd min with Mathew Amoah only watching from the bench. Christian Atsu set up Vitessi’s first goal and was substituted in the 61st min by Lucas Paizon when Vitas beat NAC Breda 2-1 away. Ghanaian born Jeffery Sarpong came on in the 35th min to feature for NAC. Francis Dickoh still remains under the pecking orders at Utrecht as he was missing in FC Utrecht squad that lost 0-1 to PSV Eindhoven.
Still in the eredivision, Fred Benson played the full game when his side PEC Zwolle lost 0-3 to Heerenveen at the Abe Lenstra Stadion on Saturday night. Mawouna Kodjo Amevor watched from the bench when his side Go Ahead Eagles beat Twente Ensheden 1-0 at their favorite grounds at the De Adelaarshorst. Fellow Ghanaian Shadrach Eghan was out of the Twente team. Dutch born Ghanaian midfielder Mitch Apau lasted 90 min for RKC Waalwijk when they drew 1-1 with ADO Den Haag. Goal machine Elvis Manu could only last the first 45 min for Cambuur Leeuwarden who drew 1-1 with leaders Ajax at the Amsterdam arena.
 In the eresdivision, Ghanaian born Swedish Patrick Amoah came on in the 71st min for Fortuna Sittard who drew 2-2 at home with Excelsior. Mustapher Yahaya came on in the 69th min for Sparta Rotterdam who lost 1-0 to Jong FC Twente.



SCOTLAND
In the Scottish Premier League, Arsenal loanee Daniel Boateng warmed the Hibernian bench when drew 3-3 with Motherwell at the Easter road Stadium.

DENMARK
Dominic Oduro came on to play the last 20 min for AGF who lost woefully by 5-2 to AaB.

BELGIUM
Versatile defender Nana Kwasi Asare played 90 min and scored for KAA Gent who rewarded themselves with a 4-1 away win over Cercle Brugge KSV. Former Ghana under 23 midfielder, Bernard Yao Kumordzi secured a starting place in the Racing Genk team and played full throttle when they won 3-1 at home over REAC Bergen Mons. Right back Daniel Opare Tewiah played 90 min for Standard Liege who won 2-0 over KV Mechelen. Youngster Frank Acheampong was an unused substitute for Anderlecht when OH Leuven beat them 1-0.

SPAIN
Fatau Mohammed did not get any min of action when his side Granada beat Villareal 2-0 at home. Richmond Boakye Yiadom came on in the 61st min but could do little to help Elche avoid defeat to Espanyol when they lost 3-1. In the Segunda division, Thomas Partey scored in the 6th min and played full game for Mallorca who drew 1-1 with Real Zaragoza.

RUSSIA
Workaholic Mubarak Wakasu was benched in Rubin Kazan’s 1-0 defeat in the hands of Anzhi Makhachkala.

TURKEY
Jerry Akaminko was on the losing side when Eskirsehirspor lost 1-0 to Besiktas.

GREECE
Arago Jamal played 33 min and was substituted after receiving a knock when Atromitos won 4-0 at home over Panionios. Full back Samuel Inkoom as usual was in action for Platanias who lost 1-3 to Apollon Smyrni.

SWITZERLAND
Both Ebenezer Assifuah and Ishmeal Yartey were in superb form for their side FC Sion Sitten who won 3-2 at home over Lucern.

SOUTH AFRICA
Defender Rashid Sumaila was in the Heart of defends for Memelodi Sundowns when they beat Amazulu 2-0 at the Princess Magogo Stadium. Daniel Agyei was still out for Free State due to injury when they drew 1-1 with Ajax Cape Town. Fatau Dawda played second fiddle to Senzo Meyiwa the lost 1-0 to Vitoria University.
