The
President of African Football governing body (CAF), Issah Hayatou has tipped
the 5 Africa teams who will be representing the continent at this year’s global
soccer fiesta in Brazil to excel beyond the quarter finals of the competition.
No African
team has ever gone past the quarterfinal stage of the World Cup,with Cameroon,Senegal
and Ghana the only teams to have done so.
“What will
make me happy now, after all these achievements, will be to get even more
successes for African football,” Hayatou said on CAF's official website.
“We continue with massive strides on all fronts of football development and, going into the 2014 FIFA World Cup, I do not see why Africa cannot have one or two of our representatives reach the semi-finals or indeed even the final of the World Cup during my time as President.”
